Where turn-of-the-century Berliners once amused themselves "In the Tents", only a few minutes away from the Reichstag Building and the Brandenburg Gate, in the middle of the Tiergarten park, stands one of Berlin's newest venues: the TIPI.

This remarkable canvass theatre by the Chancellery offers sophisticated amusement the whole year round: chanson, cabaret, variety, dance, acrobatics or musical comedy along with high-quality food and drink.

The name is simple. A TIPI is a tent, even though the Berlin TIPI looks nothing like those of the American plains. In the language of the Dakota "ti" means to live, to dwell and "pi" to use. Which for us perfectly describes our wish for performers and audience alike to feel at home.

Here, every evening, renowned national and international artists present top-level, intelligent metropolitan entertainment. Regular guests include stars like Ute Lemper, The Geschwister Pfister, Dominique Horwitz, Georgette Dee and Tim Fischer. Or new discoveries like the Venetian quick-change artist Ennio Marchetto or the male a cappella group Montezuma's Revenge. And other well-known figures such as the TV presenter Götz Alsmann and the actor and singer Ulrich Tukur also regularly appear with new musical programmes.

You can dine before the show on a brilliant cuisine of seasonally changing fresh products, complemented by an excellent, well-balanced wine list. The winning combination of theatrical spectacle and gourmet cooking makes the evening one of sheer pleasure. During the summer a shady beer garden with a view of the Chancellery makes a pleasant place to spend an hour or two.

The TIPI is also available for exclusive private events. It's great flexibility makes it equally ideal for large or small gatherings. Perfect service and an exciting atmosphere make an evening in the TIPI a guaranteed success.

The TIPI am Kanzleramt is partner of the Bar jeder Vernunft.
