It is the Berlin of the beginning of the Thirties, where naive, pleasure-seeking and bohemian night owl, Sally Bowles, belts out her famous song “Life is a Cabaret”. Her world is the sociable Nollendorfplatz, her cheap room in Miss Schneider’s guest house and the wicked Kit Kat Klub. And above all, her overwhelming desire to become famous and to be loved. There is no space here for marching Nazis and doom and gloom.
