“Maybe This Time,” “Money, Money,” “Mein Herr,” “Willkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome” – CABARET is a musical featuring some of the greatest songs ever written for the stage.

And CABARET is the Berlin musical – “where it really happened”! The audience takes its seats at the Kit Kat Club, located next to the Chancellor’s Office, on the very site where the story unfolds. They are immersed in the dazzling nightlife of the Roaring Twenties and the glittering world of cabaret. But the dance on the edge of the volcano is already giving way to the looming rise of fascism. What does that do to the people caught up in it?

Meet the boarding house landlady, Fräulein Schneider, who fears losing her licence if she becomes engaged to a Jewish man.

Meet the Jewish fruit seller, Herr Schultz, who believes, “Surely it won’t come to that.” After all, he’s German, isn’t he?

Meet the nightclub singer Sally Bowles, who distances herself from German politics by insisting she is English.

Meet the writer Clifford Bradshaw, who refuses to accept the politics of racism. Yet with his American passport, the borders remain open to him.

Nearly a hundred years old, this story is more relevant today than ever before.

SALLY BOWLES: You mean politics? But what’s that got to do with us?

CLIFF BRADSHAW: You’re right. It’s got nothing to do with us. But, Sally—don’t you see? If you do nothing to stand up against this racist ideology, then you’re supporting it. Or very nearly.
